Our Swiss Path
Symbolic power
A strong basic idea
If you divide Switzerland's 35 kilometres of road by the number of inhabitants in 1991, each inhabitant accounted for a symbolic five millimetres of road.
White Cristallina marbles
Cantonal stones
The cantons follow each other along the route in the same order as they entered the Confederation. The transitions from one cantonal section to another are marked with cantonal stones.
Signet of the Swiss Path
Where the red dots come from
Extended lines, dots and an arrow marking movement: this is how the Ticino artist Marco Mariotta has symbolised the historical path of Switzerland and shaped it into a signet for the real path around Lake Uri. The dots in his creation symbolise the ideas, steps and moments that accelerated a development or set it in motion again.
