The tourism organisations Uri Tourism, Schwyz Tourism and Erlebnisregion Mythen joined forces in 2019 to form the Wiege der Schweiz interest group (IG). They work together with tourism service providers, business partners and the economic directorates of the local cantons of Uri and Schwyz. The patron of the project is former Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer.

Since 2023, the Klewenalp holiday region has been part of the sponsorship as an additional tourism organisation as well as the consulting, creative and service agency Erlebnisplan. Together, the Cradle of Switzerland will continue to be promoted as an interest group (IG).

The Cradle of Switzerland was a project of the federal government's New Regional Policy (NRP).
